From Concept to Cruising

G.L. Watson & Co. offer an independent, impartial and comprehensive service to yacht owners 'From Concept to Cruising' and will work with you to define your requirements, identify appropriate yachts to build, restore or purchase. Working to define and write the project specification we will ensure that both owners and regulatory requirements are considered at the outset. We have experience in the management of tender processes and will bring strong input to an owner's legal team to define the prime contract. 

Ensuring Quality & Value

We put in place strong and effective Project Offices to manage the contracts and Owner's Supply. Our proven systems mitigate risk and ensure that non-conformities are minimised and contractor performance monitored and maximised.  As the project progresses we draw on a wide range of internal and external expertise to ensure that contract value is assured and quality is maintained at all times.

Owner Supply

The greatest risk of permissible delay can lie with owner furnished equipment. We work closely with an Owner's Office to ensure that owners' supply is delivered in a timely fashion and kept off the critical path.

We bring added value to a project by project managing sub-projects which may lie out-with the expertise of  a shipyard. Such projects have typically ranged from high tech fabrications to artisanal crafts.

Programme Management

Where a project is not of a scale to warrant a prime contract with a shipyard we act as Owner's Project Managers.

  Owners' Representation

  Effective representation on the ground, providing tailor-made, strong, on-site teams. Our team ensures that the Owner’s contract position is maintained at all times, and that contract value is delivered.

  Project Management

  Advice and managment of restoration & maintenance projects of Watson-designed yachts based on original plans and sources.
