Replica Yachts
Today many of the yachts designed by G. L. Watson
& Co. are regarded as design classics. However,
many were built to fulfil short-term ambitions; to win
a particular race or regatta, or to undertake a particular
voyage. Additionally, the passage of time and two World
Wars have taken their toll.
The re-birth of the large yacht over the last 15
years has gone hand in hand with an increasingly
pluralistic approach to design. Many now recognise the merits of recreating
classics which no
longer exist.
Our archives offer many outstanding candidates,
both sail and power, which are suitable for
re-building and which can be recreated to meet modern
standards. We have drawn up preliminary proposals for
a selection of designs to illustrate the
possibilities.
